About 2 weeks ago I mentioned a graduation quilt my sister and I were going to make. This is the biggest one we have done (queen size) and we used the basic concept of "Four on the Floor". We used 2 focus fabrics and then used a variety of black and white prints. This really was a collaborative effort including the quilting. Julie would do a pass and then I did one. It is DIFFICULT to imitate someone else's freemotion! We gave it to my niece and then promptly retrieved it so that we could bind it. Julie and I actually finished the quilting portion about 45 minutes before the party began. (We LOVE living on the edge!)
Both the color choice and the graphic prints were definitely out of the box for my sister and I. Julie leans toward colonial colors and traditional. I lean toward pastels and florals. We did enjoy doing this one
because it was so different for us. I think it's a good idea to jump out of the box every once in a while!
The quilting is absolutely beautiful and I love all the black/whites! Glad she liked the quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I made a quilt in black/white/red last year and it was so out of my box, that is exactly what I called it "Way out of My Box". Lucky girl to get such a beautiful graduation gift.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics, and the black and white looks great. Nice job, I'm sure she loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love black and white quilts. In fact I finished my Carolina Crossroads which is B/W and red; my Judy L Quilt for an Hour is B/W and yellow; I have a retreat project cut out which will be B/W and lime green........ i'm thinking something in B/W and royal blue next LOL

Thank you for your sweet comment - OF COURSE you know me! :) I feel like I know you too.
The black and white quilt is turning out beautifully. Love how the patterns on the fabric seem to all work together and yet not blended in.
Have a marvelous day!
