So lame

This is all I did for the sew in

I made a valance for the shower curtain in my bath to lighten and brighten for the summer.  I really did have some good intentions but I didn't stay up late enough last night to watch "Grey's Anatomy" so I watched on Hulu this evening.  I was so entranced that I couldn't do anything else.

(Good grief! Was that intense or what?!  They killed off two of my least favorite actors in the show...but I was hoping Teddy would be included in the mix.  By the way, this is one of the ways that you can tell I don't have a life! ... )

I did cut out a purse that I am making for a friend and I basted the Quilts for Kids quilt but I am not about to try to quilt that tonight.  My eyes are already tired and free motion quilting could easily result in sewn fingers!

You are not going to believe it!

Told y’all I was going to sew up that Quilts for Kids quilt, didn’t I?  Well, I did!  Here’s what it looks like and please excuse the horrible photo.  Honestly, this is the best of the 4 I took!

They did not include binding fabric so I will pick up some blank and white polka dot when I get the batting.  I have every intention of quilting this over the weekend.

By the way, did you notice the new “design wall”?  I have it pinned to the top bunk of the beds in the guest room.  Necessity truly is the mother of invention!

Best laid plans...

I had a huge list of things to do this weekend.  I did go to the big yard sale in my parent's neighborhood and found some great stuff.  I went fabric shopping and got more than I wanted.  I purchased a shovel so I could plant my hydrangea bush.  I sewed but not what I intended to sew.  My great-nieces (I am very, very old!) had a birthday party on Saturday so I made them purses.  I was going out for dinner so I didn't see the girls open gifts but my sister called to tell me the purses were a hit.  Tori is 5 and Becca is 3.  I was told that Tori put hers over her shoulder and did not take it off for the rest of the party.

I spent most of Sunday outside working on some projects and thoroughly enjoying the day.  We are expecting rain for a few days so it was great to be in the sun.

I read on someone's blog (and I really wish I could remember where) about Downey fabric softener sponsoring a quilt charity for children.  It's called "Quilts for Kids".  I contacted them via the website and received a kit for making a child's quilt.  They are very specific about the binding and quilting as these quilts will be using in the hospital.  Here is the kit I received

Ignore the seashell quilt under the kit!

Everything is cut and ready to go.  It is a simple four patch and will go together quickly.  If you are interested in receiving a quilt or learning more about this project, go to Quilts for Kids.  I really AM going to make it this week!

Question

Is anyone else getting comments on their site that are either written in Chinese or Korean?  I don't accept them because I don't read either language.  I am actually more concerned about someone trying to put some weird code on my blog and infect me with a virus or something else awful.

Maybe I am being paranoid but I am happy that I have the feature to review a comment before it is posted!

Finally – photos!

First up is the table runner quilted…or at least a section of it!

Next are some photos of Drew.  He is now 6lbs, 9oz and such a cutie pie!

He is not crazy about having all his clothing off for a bath but likes to have his head washed.  His momma puts his head under the kitchen faucet and lets the water run.  Drew loves that!

Last is a photo of my “girls”.  Miss Em just got contacts for her birthday.  Miss Bean (on her right) loves her cousin!

I thought I had more photos of the weekend on this chip but apparently picked up my son’s camera (also a Canon) and was using his at some point.
This weekend will be another busy one.  I am painting my “new” coffee table, have 2 quilts cut out that I want to start piecing and I need to do a little yard work.  Thankfully, I have no outside commitments this weekend so I should get lots accomplished…unless I get distracted as y’all know happens all too easily to me!

Lots of words - no photos!

I have had an extremely busy couple of weeks.  I quilted the table runner from the prior post.  I quilted irregular lines across the body of the piece and then outline quilted the border.  Sounds weird but it really looks good!  You will have to take my word for it until I get my photos...  I also made a cute purse for a friend using fabrics way outside my "norm".  It really is darling.   YWHTTMWFIUIGMP... Spent Mother's Day weekend in Virginia with my boys and got to hold my grandson for hours on end.  He is just adorable.  YWHTTMWFIUIGMP...  I was in a car accident with my vehicle on Saturday.  No one was hurt.  The accident was my fault so I will have to pay the deductible for the repairs.  My car looks terrible. YWHTTMWFIUIGMP...

I left my camera in Virginia.  My sweet son is going to upload the photos to a site that I can access to download onto my blog.  I took a lot of photos.  YWHTTMWFIUIGMP...
