This morning

I have been neglecting my blog...again.  I honestly have not been sewing much.  I made a beach bag for a customer and have orders for a few more.  I also made curtains for a co-worker.  I hope I don't lose my mind and do anything like that again!

This morning I decided to sit out on the patio with a cup of coffee and start hand quilting the front of a pillow cover.

I have not hand quilted in a very long time and thought I would like to try using perle cotton.  It is a much more forgiving method of quilting.  Living in this area, good quilters strive for a minimum of 8 stitches per inch when hand quilting.  I am NOT a good hand quilter.  I think I will enjoy this process and I know I am enjoying the new patio!

  1. Lovely colors! The only thing I have ever hand quilted was a flannel sampler quilt, and I did perle cotton and BIG stitches. I don't know if I am up for anything smaller. Patio quilting sounds divine though!

    Love the colors...

  3. Enjoy the process Suzan.I've put off hand quilting because I'm afraid I wont be good at it, but the time is fast approaching where I think Im going to bust out and give it a crack. Darn what anyone else thinks. Im never going to get any better if I dont try it -right?

Love those fabrics and cottons. Pretty!

  4. Please show us the pillow after the quilting. I've done some quilting with bigger threads -- love the look but yikes... hard to pull the needle through! That pink pearl cotton looks fabulous on top of the pieced bit.
