Best laid plans...

I had a huge list of things to do this weekend.  I did go to the big yard sale in my parent's neighborhood and found some great stuff.  I went fabric shopping and got more than I wanted.  I purchased a shovel so I could plant my hydrangea bush.  I sewed but not what I intended to sew.  My great-nieces (I am very, very old!) had a birthday party on Saturday so I made them purses.  I was going out for dinner so I didn't see the girls open gifts but my sister called to tell me the purses were a hit.  Tori is 5 and Becca is 3.  I was told that Tori put hers over her shoulder and did not take it off for the rest of the party.

I spent most of Sunday outside working on some projects and thoroughly enjoying the day.  We are expecting rain for a few days so it was great to be in the sun.

I read on someone's blog (and I really wish I could remember where) about Downey fabric softener sponsoring a quilt charity for children.  It's called "Quilts for Kids".  I contacted them via the website and received a kit for making a child's quilt.  They are very specific about the binding and quilting as these quilts will be using in the hospital.  Here is the kit I received

Ignore the seashell quilt under the kit!

Everything is cut and ready to go.  It is a simple four patch and will go together quickly.  If you are interested in receiving a quilt or learning more about this project, go to Quilts for Kids.  I really AM going to make it this week!
