I have one of  those tracking thingies on my blog.  It gives me general information about the location of my readers.  Someone who reads my blog regularly is from the Port Angeles area of Washington.  I have gone through my followers list and cannot figure this out.  I would love to know who you are!  I am very familiar with the area and spent many, many weekends there when I lived in Washington.

Quilting update - all the rows are sewn together on the zig zag quilt.  All those point were hard to smash down when I pressed but I used my Mary Ellen's Best Press and ironed them into submission!  I don't have any fabric for the back.  I am giving serious thought to just getting some bleached muslin and using that for  the back.  Thoughts?

  1. Not me, I'm in New Hampshire. Muslin....not so sure about. If you have spent that much time and $$ in the quilt, I'm thinking I'd take the time to find good fabric on sale? JMHO.... OH!! Be sure and trim all of those threads!! It will make a huge difference.

  2. Last time I did HST's like this, I pressed them open. Lots more pressing time, but it helped later on. (I know -too late for you, right?)

Doesn't JoAnn's have a nice white on white extra wide backing? Would that work? (or is it ivory - can't remember) I would think muslin would be thin?

  3. I love the idea of a white backing. It’ll really show up the quilting from the front. I’m wondering if a muslin may not stand up to heavy duty washing as time goes by, unless you choose something more heavy weight. I’d be thinking more along the lines of a white Kona Cotton or Bella Solid. Whatever you decide I’m sure it’ll look beautiful.

  4. Love the red and whites. I think Jo Anns sell a kona cotton now. Good idea on white.

And, I'd put in a couple of color catchers! I've had several quilts with reds bleed and I wash everything that comes in the house pretty much.

  5. I have a regular reader from Bear, Delaware. I don't who it is. Nor do I know why this fascinates me.
