Support Your Local Quilt Shop day!

Have you experienced the closing of a local quilt shop?  I am sure that most closings are the result of economic difficulties and the end of someone's dream.  While it is sometimes necessary to shop on line, it is important to remember local quilt shops and make an effort to support them.  Whenever I go to a new shop, even if I am unimpressed with their prices or fabric selection, I always make a purchase.  Sometimes it is only a few fat quarters but I really try to support small business enterprises when I have the opportunity.

I am very fortunate to live in an area where there are so many great local quilt shops.  Within a 30 minute drive, I can get to at least 9 quilt shops.  Of those, Burkholder's remains my favorite.  They offer a great selection of fabrics, wonderful sales and a discount to guild or sewing circle members.  (If you are "local" and need more information about Burkholder's, please leave me a comment or send me an email.)

Please stop in at a local quilt shop today or this week.

  1. My wallet is very thankful that I don't live near Burkholder's! Love that store. Actually, my wallet is glad that there is only one shop close to me and the others are at least an hour. But I agree, it's nice to just buy at least something whenever we visit new (or old) shops.
