When the mood strikes

I cleaned my house on Saturday.  On Sunday I lost my mind in the dining room.

I didn't even bother to take the tablecloth or runner off the dining room table.  I had to sew.  Right then, right there.  I had been thinking about something for a couple of days and could not get it out of my head.  Sure, I could have done every bit of this in my studio but there was something "on demand" that I wanted to watch so I destroyed the dining room.  (Not pictured are the ironing board and extra yardage of fabric!)

I now have a lot of these.

I already have a name for the quilt.  I am calling it "Spring on SW 185th Street".  The colors remind me of my front yard in Seattle.  In the spring, the first thing I saw when I opened the front door was green grass, vibrant yellow 6 foot tall forsythia bushes and (nearly every morning) grey skies.

Hope your weekend included less cleaning and more sewing!

  1. LOVE this -- the colors, the fabrics, the idea . . . .

  2. You go girl! Break the rules! Love the fabrics (as usual). Sounds like you had a good day to me!

  3. Love these colors - and for you giving in to the NEED! Can't wait to see the finish!

  4. Don't you just love it...getting to sew, who cares about everything else...right....

  5. Aha! Yes, this is very pretty. Can't wait to see it all finished up.

  6. Yep. Love the yellow and gray. I've had a similar idea brewing for a while, and stash growing. LOVE yours. And the design wall is working! Great idea.
