Moving my base of operations!

Good grief!  It is hot in the studio.  Really, really hot!  It is to be expected as it is on the third floor in what was originally attic space.  I have a ceiling fan and a fan in the window pulling out the hot air but other than really early in the morning, it is unbearable.  In an effort to reduce my electric bill, I have decided to move down to the dining room to sew at night.  I bought an inexpensive “personal” size folding table that is height adjustable.

It is perfect for my Brother machine.  31RMCGpewyL__SL500_AA280_ If you live near a Big Lots and need one of these, you just can’t beat their sale price of $18!  I am seriously thinking about going back to get another one to use for a cutting table so that I don’t have to clutter up the dining room table.  Everything can easily be tucked into the closet & out of sight.

Sadly, I can’t say that about the studio.  What a disaster area…again!  Since I get up between 4 & 4:30 every morning, I think I will get it all straight and organized tomorrow morning.  I have decided I do not need a little refrigerator up there for sodas and water.  A co-worker and her husband are coming by to pick it up on Monday.  It won’t make a lot of difference in the floor space but every little bit helps.  I keep thinking there is a better layout but with the shelving already installed and permanent, I need to put on my thinking cap.  (I can feel my head starting to hurt already!!)

  3. I just might have to make a trip down to Buffalo for one of those - I'd love it for a cutting table.

  4. For me, it's always fun figuring out 'new ways' to move things around, or to do things. You will enjoy your sewing being a lot cooler. Maybe you could watch some garage sales for a nice window air conditioner?
    be blessed,

  5. I use to have the same problem when I made a front bedroom my sewing room. Even with central air it the room was so hot I couldn't work without getting major hot flashes. I quickly bought a window unit and I am so glad I did because now I can work comfortably.

  6. I have a few of these tables and for cutting I'm not very fond of them. They start to slightly bow in the center so when you do a 22 inch cut the ruler pressure really needs to compensate to get a clean cut. I do think my issue could be switching back and forth on tables...maybe my machine is what is pulling it down slightly in the center. Maybe mark yours so the same one is always the cutting table.

  7. I can only imagine how hot it would be on a 3rd floor. It's been averaging 102 here in Texas the past few days. Thankfully, I keep our house on 74! Yeah the electric bill is high, but it's worth it. Good luck and stay cool! Jenn

  8. I like that table! Sorry it's so hot in your studio. I've been so glad I moved mine to the downstairs since it's been so hot. I've got to figure out a plan for winter though or I'll freeze to death down there.

  9. I have that same table. My hubby bought it at Costco for me a few years ago. I love it!! I put it in the living room and sew while hubby watches tv. Of course the humm of the machine is a bit too much for him sometime. So I back off the pedal. lolol
